Release notes

Snapstub is updated in small, finished pieces rather than big rewrites. Nothing below was removed later, and no version has ever required an account, a subscription, or an upload.

1.11.1 — submitted, awaiting review

Fixes for 1.11.

• Calendar: a day with only receipts in another currency now shows them (for example €42.00) and opens, instead of looking empty. A day with both shows “$85.88 + €12.50”. Currencies are still never added together.
• Where it went: each category lists its amounts in other currencies under the main total.
• Email to my accountant: if Apple Mail isn’t set up (you use Gmail or Outlook, for example), the button says so before you tap. It copies the address and opens the share sheet: pick your mail app and paste it into To.

1.11.0 — October 2026

Send receipts in, reports out.

• Send to Snapstub: share a screenshot or photo of a receipt from Photos, Safari, Mail or Files, tap Snapstub, and it waits for you in Review. Several at once work too.
• Each currency has its own total. A receipt in euros is no longer added to your dollars, on the home screen, in the calendar or in the PDF.
• The PDF report adds totals by category and a trip-by-trip mileage log: date, route, purpose and distance.
• Email to my accountant: after an export, one tap sends the file. The address is asked once.
• The period menu offers quarters, and the UK tax year (6 April to 5 April) on UK devices.
• On the open iPhone Duo, Snapstub uses the whole inner display.

1.10.1 — October 2026

Ready for iPhone Duo, and French that writes numbers the French way.

• On iPhone Duo, Snapstub fills the display instead of running in a narrower window, and the space above each screen’s header goes to your receipts.
• In French, amounts and distances use a decimal comma everywhere (16,82 and 24,4 km), and the Export button no longer breaks onto two lines on standard-size iPhones.

Trips, faster to log.

• Your recent routes are one tap: from, to, purpose and distance filled in. On the Trips screen the big button now adds a trip.
• Round trip: there and back in one entry, at twice the distance.
• Several days: log the same trip on several days at once — a month of weekly visits in one go, with one Undo if a day was picked by mistake.
• From, To and Purpose suggest what you have used before, and a route you have driven fills in its own distance. Return moves from one field to the next.
• Vehicle and Note fold under “More details” until you need them.

1.9.0 — October 2026

Faster in, easier to check.

• Share a receipt straight to Snapstub: a PDF or photo from Mail, Files or Photos opens ready to save, without saving it to Files first.
• Pick several photos at once. Long-press Capture for Photos, a file, or typing a receipt in.
• Dates follow how your region writes them, so 03/09/2026 is 3 September in the UK and Australia. A date that reads two ways is flagged with a one-tap fix, and changing a date is now a calendar rather than typed text.
• On a flagged receipt, Looks right clears every flag at once, and in the “needs a double-check” list, Save moves on to the next one.
• Pounds, Australian dollars and New Zealand dollars.
• Someone who came for the mileage log can start with a trip instead of a receipt.
• The French app is now fully French: some screens had stayed in English.

1.8.1 — September 2026

A maintenance release: nothing changes in how the app works or in your data.

• The App Store listing now says plainly what is free and what the one-time unlock covers — your first export is free as a standard CSV, and mileage exports sit in the unlock alongside receipt exports.
• Its own App Store listing for Canada, the UK and Australia.

1.8.0 — 12 September 2026

Dark Mode, and a save that can never fail silently.

• Dark Mode — follows your phone, or choose Light or Dark in Settings ▸ Appearance.
• If a save ever fails — a full disk, a file the app cannot read — the app says so and offers Try again or Export backup. It never says “Saved” when it didn’t.
• Where it went: under the calendar, the period’s spending by category, ranked by share. Tap one to filter the calendar to it.
• Deleting several trips asks first and offers Undo; emptying Recently Deleted asks first.
• Keyboards dismiss with a drag; number fields get a Done button.
• No camera access? The app explains and offers Photos or Settings.
• VoiceOver names every control.

1.7.1 — 6 September 2026

A receipt whose printed date was read wrong could be saved and then never appear.

• A misread date put the receipt outside “Last 30 days”, and sorting by Recently scanned could not rescue it — a sort only reorders what the date filter already allowed through. Now that sort makes the date filter follow the same clock: you see what you scanned in the period, whatever the receipt says.
• Sorting by Receipt date is unchanged, so August still means expenses dated August — and exports are unchanged for the same reason, since a tax period is about when the expense happened.
• Saving a receipt your current filter would hide now says so, instead of saying “Saved” and showing you nothing.

1.7.0 — 4 September 2026

Mileage. If you drive for work, Snapstub now keeps the drives beside the receipts, under the same period, the same business and the same one-time unlock.

• Log a trip with date, distance, purpose and route — or keep the log by odometer instead, where each trip takes a start and end reading and the distance is worked out for you. The next trip starts where the last one ended, so there is one number to type.
• Long-press a trip to log it again: same route and purpose, today’s date. The weekly client visit stops being retyped.
• Monthly subtotals, business-use share, and the year’s opening and closing odometer readings — what the IRS and CRA ask for.
• Trips export to their own CSV, or to a mileage report of their own. Receipt exports can include a mileage section, or not — your choice.
• Pick any start and end date for a filter or an export: a quarter, a fiscal year, or the half-year before a rate change.
• Dutch receipts now read correctly (BTW), and shops with “market” or “pharmacy” in the name no longer lose it.

Finding the receipt you are looking for.

• The “needs a double-check” banner became a button: tap it to see just those receipts, fix them, and it tells you when there is nothing left.
• A “Recently scanned” sort. When a printed date is misread the receipt used to file itself somewhere you would never look.
• Every receipt keeps a record of when it was captured. Receipts from before the update recover theirs from the saved photo.
• Sort moved next to the search box, so the filter row stays filters.

• Tip capture, read from the receipt or entered by hand, with its own total.
• Batch capture: scan a stack without leaving the camera.
• Optional fields (tip, note) and custom categories, off by default.
• Extraction accuracy work across the real-receipt corpus.

How versions are numbered

The middle number moves when a release adds something you can use; the last when it fixes something. A version marked awaiting review has been submitted to Apple and is not installable yet — the App Store shows the previous version until Apple approves it, usually within a day or two.
