Snapstub is sold the other way: the app is free to use, and a single purchase unlocks getting your data out as a file. There is no second charge and no renewal.
What costs nothing
Scanning is free and uncapped — there is no trial clock and no limit on how many receipts you keep. So is reading them: merchant, date, total, tax, tip and a suggested category are extracted on the device using Apple's Vision framework. So is organising them into categories, labels and businesses, the year-to-day calendar, and full backup and restore.
That last one matters more than it sounds. Your receipts are never held behind the purchase — you can always see them, and you can always back them up, whether or not you ever pay.

Why no account, and no cloud
Snapstub has no sign-up because it has nowhere to sign in to. Everything runs on the device: there is no server holding your receipts, no analytics, and no trackers. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected, which is the only answer that is true for an app that never sends anything anywhere.
The practical version: it works on a plane, it works with the network off, and there is no account to lose access to.
What it does not do
It does not connect to your bank and cannot import card transactions. It does not file your taxes. It is not a cashback or rewards app. There is no web dashboard and no team features — this is a tool for one person keeping their own records. If you need any of those, a subscription product is genuinely the better fit, and this page is not trying to talk you out of one.
Is it right for you?
It suits a freelancer, sole trader or small-business owner who scans their own receipts, files their own return, and would rather own a tool than rent one. If you are managing a team's expenses or need approvals and reimbursements, look elsewhere.
